A few of our family Christmas traditions that we do just with our little family (even if we are going out of town to visit family for the holidays) is acting out the Nativity. We always read the birth of Christ in the bible and then we all act it out. We do it multiple times so everyone gets a chance to be Mary and Jesus and the innkeeper. TJ and I pretty much take turns being the donkey. Afterwords we will watch the 5 minute Nativity movie. We also make pizzas and eat it by candlelight. This tradition comes from the DePriest side and was always done on Christmas Eve but since we are never at our own home on Christmas Eve we do it a few days before. I love staying with family for Christmas but I look forward to the day we can spend it at home. The candlelight brings such a reverent mood and the kids think its so fun and its relaxing and calm.
Sometime during the month of December we make butter cookies (I hate sugar cookies, unless its a Swigg sugar cookie) my moms butter cookies are really good and I only like to eat them frozen.
