At the beginning of the year we made a goal as a family to read The Book of Mormon. We read the childrens version which gives pictures and condenses the text and makes the stories come alive and easier for the kids to learn. We still read our regular scriptures but I can tell the kids have learned the stories quicker and much better reading this way. Well we stuck to our goal and read every night before bed and we finished on Saturday! The kids were so excited to see that really acomplished their goal and we had said from the beginning if we finished in a certain amount of time we would go to the Aquarium (for the first time) so thats what we did. The kids loved it and it was pretty cool. Too bad Lexi wasn't feeling very well and later came home with a fever but I think she still had a good time. We started the book over and maybe this time we read a story and then read the scriptures that go with it. That will take longer but would be good to do. The kids set a goal for the next time we finish the book to go to the Zoo. I love how they pick goals to places we would take them anyways.
We only go to the zoo once a year, I'm sure the Aquarium will be the same.
