We did my FAVORITE Christmas tradition last night since we won't be home for Christmas Eve this year. I know we will do this at my moms house but its so fun when its just us. We made our own pizzas (too bad its not Dion's dough) and then we lit our candles. Something about the candle light that makes the kids calm and peaceful. I would eat dinner like this every night but I fear it wouldn't be special anymore. After we decorated gingerbread houses. Tallie also read us a Christmas story "The Last Straw". Pretty much my favorite book. We each drew a name of a person we would secretly serve for the week and each time a service is done we put in a piece of straw for Jesus's manger. We are trying to make his bed SO SO soft for Christmas day. I told them we could start in the morning since we were headed straight to bed and in the midst of brushing teeth and putting PJs on everyone secretly did a deed for their secret person. I couldn't believe they did it so quick without being caught. I just looked in the manger to find 4 pieces of straw. Again this morning I saw notes and laundry piles put away and shoes straightened in my closet. I am so excited. This is awesome and the "secret" part of it is why its working.
BEST new tradition!
