This year was the "DePriest" side for Christmas and I always get super excited to go home and be with all of my family. I was super bummed to hear at the last minute that the Batts were not going to be there. Tandy of all people had come down with the MEASLES. Yes you heard me right, measles. She was in pretty bad shape and because they are contagious and because we have select people in the family who do not believe in vaccinations they stayed home to celebrate Christmas and her birthday in isolation. I felt so bad for them, and for us because I knew Tallie would be sad not to have Rylie around and I knew she would be bored as well. Tj thought it would be best if I flew home and he drive with the girls so that the 10 hour drive wouldn't turn into like a 14 hour drive due to the baby. It was kinda stressful to pack for them on the road and for myself for a flight but it was nice not to be stuck in the car with a crying baby.
The weather was nice at home and I was so thankful for Kendalyn who is so great with my kids and loved playing with them making sure they weren't bored. From the first day home with everyone, the flu hit and everyday someone woke up with it and there were always sick people littered all over the couches with fevers and aches. It was awful. I felt so bad for Deidras family who basically all had it at once. It was pretty bad because 16 people out of the 21 ended up getting some piece of it. My turn was on the day I was leaving and I had to walk through the airport just freezing with sweat running down my face with my head feeling like a 1000 lbs and my nose dripping while coughing. I was exactly the kind of person everyone hates on the plane. While at home we played some hide and seek with the whole family, we visited my dad's shop, well just the little girls because my dad said the big girls cost him too much. Tj took our kids and never did I expect him to come home with a headdress. I guess Chloe was just too cute to pass it up. Halloween next year should be fun! This was Christians last Christmas with the family for awhile since he will be old enough to go on a mission shortly. It makes to sad to see all of these kids growing up and moving on. Where does the time go?
Christmas morning
Tallie wanted a motor scooter this year but was equally happy when Santa brought her roller blades and crutches and cast for her doll Julie. All Chloe wanted was a cuddle up it and a dream lite pillow pet. She loves anything soft and cuddly. She really cracks me up because both of those things she saw on TV. She will definitly grow up to stay up late at night and shop the QVC channels. Often times when we are at Walmart she stops me to show me the latest thing she saw on an infomercial and will explain all of the benefits of the product. She always wants the brightest smile and whitest toilet and strongest nails and anything else that flashes across the screen. What a little seller she is too, makes me want to buy all of the latest gadgets. Lexi is in love with Dora so she got some Dora legos and a doodle puppy and a marble run which they all love but we want to return because it's not the Marble works one that we had growing up. Kasen got a camp chair highchair and it is AWESOME and I can't wait to use it everywhere we go! TJ got a raft and a GPS watch (he bought that himself and I wrapped it from me) and I got a long down puffy coat and the Whole family got a new Mac computer (we only have a laptop)! We sure are spoiled and got and spent way too much. We really are blessed to have the great job that Tj has.
Ever since I can remember we have been going to the church on Christmas day to play basketball. It is one of my favorite traditions! I just love playing Knockout. However this year I didn't get to play. My mom role was more important this year as I sat and comforted a sad child. It makes me so happy to watch my brother play ball. He is so good at what he does and it just takes me back to always going to his games. My mom and Sadie did laps around the gym to burn their calories. It also was enjoyable to watch.
