Random

So I kinda feel like this has been somewhat of a lame summer. Not that we as a family haven't done some cool stuff but that kids in the neighborhood have been lame. The kids are just not really out, always really busy and super scheduled and no time for unstructured play with friends. There have not been a whole lot of night games going on and since Mr. Kasen goes to bed so early we don't go on our night walks or bike rides like we usually do. Babies can make it pretty hard sometimes. I also feel like my kids are constantly wanting me to entertain them all day long. Always asking me "What can we do??" and complaining they are bored. And I swear if I hear "Can I watch TV?" one more time I will rip the tv off the wall.
The TV has stolen their imagination and they just have no idea what to do with themselves.
When I was a kid I would wake up, eat, maybe watch one cartoon, and then I went outside and played in the sandbox and empty lots with my friend, running back and forth between our houses (playing barbies and trolls) all day long until my mom called me home.
Whats wrong with the kids on my street?
I feel like their summers are filled with camp after camp, cheer practice, gymnastics and tutoring and etc.
Can't they just play? My kids need friends like that.
It's been hard to get out and play in the mornings before it gets hot out because Kasen is always either ready for a nap or already sleeping. We like to ride bikes and go for walks or go to the park and we have not done that at all this summer but finally the other morning we had a window of about a half our before Kasen would loose his mind and so we decided to go on a bike ride to the new park. The girls of course complained, saying they didn't want to go (what's wrong with them?) and for the first time I stuck Kasen in the bike trailer. His helmet makes me look like a very over protective mom. I'm glad he liked it so that instead of walking to school I can ride my bike with the girls.
When in doubt, marshmallow structures always help with boredom.
