I think we have gone to Park City for the past 3 or 4 years. The kids seriously ask ALL year when it is that we are going again. I always feel like it never really goes as planned and that something goes wrong but in the end we all still have fun and count down the days till next time. Last year Chloe broke her arm right before we went and she had to spend the weekend with her arm wrapped in trash bags sitting on the steps to the pool with her arm on the side. This year Kasen has a helmet that he can't wear for too long in the sun or in the water but he also can't have it off for extended periods of time. So that was a struggle for me and Lexi was also so sick the whole time. She had a super sore throat, no energy, felt horrible and couldn't stop coughing for the life of her. She literally coughed ALL night keeping poor Chloe awake and Kasen cried most of the night hating his pack n play. Poor Lexi didn't care about swimming or eating or being drug around town or anything. She was miserable and I felt so bad. She coughed so much that she was throwing up most of the time anywhere we went. She finally started feeling better on the last day and even was happy playing in the pool before we came home.
One of the reasons why we love the Hotel we stay at is they are all about the kids. They have activities and games to sign up for all day long, there are 5 mini pools/hot tubs and one big pool to play in. There are people who wander around the pools all day handing out Otter Pops and one day they had a cotton candy maker outside and Chloe got some that was bigger than her head! There was face painting (Lexi got her arm since she couldn't stop coughing long enough) and right after they all jumped in the pool and washed it off.
I went shopping at the outlets with Mona one day (Bob and Mona stayed a night with us) and Mona bought the girls back to school clothes. She tried to buy me some too but I had to cut her off because I was feeling so guilty about all the money she was spending.
We always take a bunch of glow sticks for the hot tubs at night and thats one of our favorite parts of the weekend. (am I a horrible mom because after I put Kasen down for bed I left him in the hotel room and went down to the pool with TJ and the kids?)
I love our little tradition and I love how excited kids get just to sleep in a hotel and run down the halls and swim in a pool all day. I hope they have just as many good memories of Park City as I do.
Tonight for family home evening we went to see Tallies and Chloes friends Maili and Haeli Wilkins in their Charlie and the Chocolate Factory play they put on through the city. The girls wanted to see their friends and I thought it would be cute and it was but it was such a RIP OFF!! It was $30 for our family to watch this childrens play and had I known that I wouldn't have told the girls we would go! But what would you do if you went and once you go there you realized it was so pricy?? It was a cute show but really I want my $30 back!
