The other weekend we thought it would be a good idea to go to the hot pots. It was a stretch for us because the hike was a good 5 miles round trip and I knew that would be pushing it for the kids. But we went anyways even though it was overcast and sprinkling on and off all day. It was about an hour into the hike that I realized it was not such a hot idea. We were all tired and we were never getting there. At one point TJ said to turn around. We couldn't do that. Finally about a half hour later we got there. It wasn't like I had remembered (I have only been there once). It was not very kid friendly and it wasn't a hit with the kids. We stayed for a bit and had our snacks. On the hike back down it started to rain on us and so I carried Lexi so we could go faster. She was wrapped in a towel to stay dry. After a little bit I stopped for a break and went to set her on her feet. When I THOUGHT she was standing I let go of her (her arms wrapped in the towel so she could't break her fall), She wasn't standing, I basically just dropped her face first onto a muddy rock. It sounded like 2 rocks hitting together. I for sure thought I had cracked her skull! I picked her up, her face covered in dirt and blood. I have never felt SO BAD! She screamed forever! We were lucky however because no concussion and no stitches needed. She had a huge goose egg and plenty of cuts but nothing major. I carried her down the mountain in the rain for another 2 miles. It was the longest hike down to the car.
I really felt like the worst mom ever.
If you ask the kids about that hike not one will say it was fun in anyway.
Sometimes our so called "good" ideas aren't really good at all.
When we got home we had a sitter come watch the kids and TJ and I went to his cousins wedding reception. It was nice to get dressed and eat free cake and hang out together. After we went to dinner at Los Hermanos before we called our date good.
