I don't know if there is anything more heartbreaking than to have your child sob in your arms and tell you she doesn't think she is pretty.
Its like a mind blowing and hard to wrap my head around that my 9 year old feels this way. But I guess I'm not totally blown away. This is such a crazy world we live in where it seems that everything is so superficial. Seems like everywhere we go we are faced with something or someone telling us we are not enough. That our worth and potential is measured in how we look, the latest trends, hairstyles, etc. We are letting the scewed up media tell us what beauty is. I guess I'm just shocked it is coming at such a young age. I just want my kids to know that they are beautiful! They really are! But it's not because of the brand they wear or how many clothes they have or the makeup. Beauty comes from the inside. When we are truly beautiful on the inside and that means, loving, kind, serving others, and thinking of others before ourselves, then that is when the beauty shines out. Your spirit and love is what is attractive and what attractive others to us. The most beautiful person isn't so beautiful to look at if they have an ugly heart.
